-James Knight son of James and Frances Knight.
-apprenticed as tool maker
-born august 3, 1867 in acocks green, yardley - hamlet later part of birmingham (1911)
-married Florence Taylor 17 jan 1892
-they had 6 children
-worked as tool maker in Birmingham
-1894 converted from Anglican to Wesleyan Methodist, decided to become a Meth minister
-1897 became local lay minister, enrolled in saltely college, birm, studying greek and latin
-family left 18 april 1907 from liverpool on ss ionian, 3rd class/steerage
-sept 1907 arrived in Hamilton
-J may have worked for westinghouse and tallman brass
-november 1908, family moved to Wisconsin, so J could study to be minister
-rev. vipond in Hamilton told him he could study in west wisc. conference to become ordained
-could continue as lay minister while taking courses
-had preaching appt in tunnel city, wisc. (a village)
-1909 moved to soldier's grove, apptd as student minister
-1910 apptd to Louisville charge
-1911 Knights returned to Hamilton, J accepted into Ham Meth Conf
-1912 they went to England
-stationed in decewsville 1914, wellandport 1916, also webbwood in 1916
-2 years was average length of appt for Meth ministers
-minister at Wellandport 1918-20

-died with 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren
-died 9 july 1960
