Sheffield United Church is a small,
welcoming congregation in a quaint rural community. The congregation is
made up primarily of families with elementary school-age children,
middle-aged, and senior citizens.
We worship at 10:30 am every Sunday (except during summer schedule)
Our Church Services are traditional United Church of Canada church
services, which include hymn singing, Bible readings, prayers, choir
anthem, and a sermon. Afterwards there are refreshments in the church
hall.
We have no dress code, and normally see a broad mix of casual and
slightly formal clothing.
Communion 4 times per year.
Our choir practices before the Sunday service, at 9:30 am, and welcomes
new members.
We have an active Sunday School, which takes place during the church
service. Attendance ranges from roughly 5-18, and most of the children
are in grades Kindergarten to Grade Four.
We have talent shows, beef suppers, turkey suppers, pancake suppers,
coffee parties, game days, salad luncheons, and Bible studies.
Our Outreach includes supporting the Wesley Urban
Ministries in Hamilton and the Flamborough Food Bank.
As well, we offer support to needy families in the area
and to the broader community through the United Church of Canada's
Mission and Services, and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
